As a university student or recent graduate, we often required a laptop to perform our tasks, from writing an assignment, a letter, completing our final year project or conducting a research. We usually need a laptop, but it is hard to afford one and sometimes even impossible for some students to get one. Perhaps, its no more a dream to get a free laptop because the PM Laptop scheme is a great initiative by PM Pakistan to provide free laptops to 100,000 students who are currently enrolled in universities or recently graduated.

The prime minister laptop scheme is an initiative by PM Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his prime minister youth program. The project aims to provide good quality laptops to students studying or recently graduated. It is a very important scheme and an opportunity for students, specially those who required a laptop but can not afford one. This scheme was started in 2013 and completed its last two successful phases (Phase-I and Phase-II) and distributed 500,000 laptops around students. The Prime Minister Shehbaz recently announced the Phase-III (2022-23) of PM Laptop Scheme and the opportunity to provide 100,000 laptops to students. In this post we will be sharing, how you can register, the eligibility criteria and date of deadline, so for you would apply before the last date.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility of students is determined by their enrolled program and that is not earlier than the corresponding program duration, as shown below:
- The student must have a valid CNIC/B-Form ID number.
- Must be a valid student as of closing date for application submission, i.e 30th June, 2023.

How to apply
Students can apply online from the official website of prime minister youth program. Before you proceed, you need to ensure that your personal information and contact details are correct. All the steps are straight forward you can easily get through it. The last process of verifying your phone number and email address may be little bit tricky but you need to wait for 15 minutes to get the verification code on your phone and email address, then you can successfully submit your application.

Details that are required:
- CNIC or B-Form number
- Student ID/Enrollment Number of the university
- Date of admission
- Your university, department and program
- Current semester
- Marks / CGPA obtained in last exam
- Marks obtained in intermediate or HSSC/O-level
- Email and Phone number

Check Application Status
After you complete your application and successfully submitted, then your application's status will be applied by default and you can check the application status any time you want by visiting on PMYP website or clicking this link. Click Here
When you will get a Laptop
Why you apply for a laptop at first, your application's status will be applied. It means you have successfully submitted the application. After that, your application will be reviewed by the focal person of your department. Where s/he verify your personal information and send for the next step. If you entered any wrong information can correct it by contacting to your focal person. If not then your application will be either selected, not selected or disapproved if you are not eligible. Finally, a laptop will be issue against your application.
Laptop Specifications
Specs of pm laptops of phase-III are not shared yet by the PMYP, but according to previous phases, such as phase-II specifications were quite good. They were latest in processors and their generations, reasonable RAM, storage and cache size. So, we can expect better laptop specification this time. Distribution Date
The date of distribution of each university varies based on your region. The distribution date for the laptops will be held in your university when they will receive laptops from PMYLS or HEC and HEC. The HEC team will be there on the distributions of laptops.
